HELPS Fund our
restoration work

We are an NGO and we run the tours with our local partners. A  portion of the profits go towards Ocean Gardener to fund our coral restoration work. It helps us fund the maintenance of our own coral nuseries and the outplanting to restore the surrounding reefs.

It helps us expand our program by identifying new  communities to partner with so we can keep expanding our impact. Working with our marine biologists, we hope to discover better coral restoration or conservation techniques that will help corals survive the impending pressures of the warming oceans due to climate change.

supports local communities

Eco-tourism is powerful avenue for change, allowing ex-fishermen to supplement their income stream by becoming a guide, showing the visitors their restored reefs areas. It provide a huge incentive for the community to preserve their local reef.

Your tour directly benefits the communities and empowers them to change their destiny. It allows them to move from a subsistence economy extracting from the reefs, to one based on pride and self-reliance by showing their children and outside visitors the positive change they have made on their reefs, which inspire other communities to follow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I take my tours with the Ocean Gardener?

Embark on a unique and impactful experience! You’ll not only learn about one of the most critically endangered ecosystems on our planet but also directly contribute to its preservation and the well-being of local communities.

Our tours are thoughtfully designed by the renowned Vincent Chalias, who brings an impressive 25 years of hands-on experience in coral cultivation to our curriculum.

As a non-profit organization, every contribution from your participation directly fuels our vital coral restoration initiatives and empowers local communities. It provides an alternative income source and reduces reliance on destructive fishing practices.

We deeply appreciate your support!

What if there is bad weather during my tour?

Your safety is our utmost priority during your underwater excursions. Occasionally, severe weather conditions, particularly strong seasonal winds or unpredictable swells, may lead the local authorities to restrict or prohibit water activities, which would unfortunately necessitate the postponement or cancellation of your dive.

Should such a situation arise, we will promptly notify all participants via email or WhatsApp with timely updates. We will also provide options to either reschedule your tour for a more favorable day or arrange for a refund.

I have my own equipment. Can I use them?

You are welcome to bring your own gear if you wish, although all tours include the use of our in-house equipment (snorkels, fins, etc). You can use whatever you need if you don’t have a complete set.

Please notify us in your booking form that you will be using your own equipment.
