More and more people are interested in becoming volunteers on reef restoration projects. Facing this constant influx of untrained but willing people to make a difference for Coral Reefs, we created a dedicated coral reef restoration course. This course is designed to provide the necessary training and knowledge not only to help us but also to help coral reefs all around the world.

Our course is designed this course to provide students with a complete set of skills to help us on any of our many reef restoration projects. But also so you have the necessary skill set to help any coral reef restoration project anywhere around the world.
Coral Reef are on the way down:

Let’s face it, coral reefs around the world are never going to be the same. They are under so many different threats that coral reefs as we know them, have very little hope.

What we can do is: try hard to delay the process and reduce these changes to the minimum.
A new industry on the verge of becoming global:

Considering how big the diving industry is. Dive resorts, Dive shops, Government agencies, coastal communities, scientific agencies, we will need more and more people to help maintain these reef ecosystems. Our goal is to give the technical skill people to access these soon-to-be-created jobs.
A 4 week dedicated course:

Coral ID:
The first week of our 4 weeks Coral Reef Restoration course, is dedicated to Coral ID. At the end of this week, you will be able to ID 90% of all corals to the genus level. Because if we can’t speak the same language and know what coral we need to work on, the reef restoration work is impossible.

Using, video, presentation, and underwater slates, we will bring you from zero to hero. And you’ll never see the reef with the same eyes again!
Coral Gardening or ‘Coralling’:
The second week of our 4 weeks Coral Reef Restoration course, is dedicated to what we call ‘Coral Gardening’ or ‘Coralling’. This is dedicated to teaching you the necessary steps to improve Reef Resilience and maintain a healthy reef.

It includes a set of techniques, planting, and maintenance to install simple nurseries, control predators and pests, direct planting on the reef, and small reef restoration techniques…
Coral Reef Restoration Techniques:

The third week of our 4 weeks Coral Reef Restoration course, is dedicated to proper ‘Coral Reef Restoration’. This is dedicated to teaching you the necessary techniques and knowledge to execute extended projects.
Monitoring:

The fourth week of our 4 weeks Coral Reef Restoration course, is dedicated to ‘Monitoring’. This is dedicated to teaching you the necessary techniques and knowledge to monitor your project’s progress. From simple qualitative techniques like Rapid Reef Assessment to more quantitative ‘Line Video transect’ and the more complex 3D photogrammetry.

The course is certified by Udayana University in Bali, Indonesia, and is being audited for other certifications.
We are part of a network of organizations dedicated to coral reef conservation and are always on the lookout for trained practitioners.
